Sheridan College, after an intensive year of planning in partnership with Mohawk College, would like to welcome Paula Laing as the Student Success and Transitions Advisor for the newly opened Aboriginal Initiatives Office. She is located in Room B127 at the Trafalgar Campus. Paula Laing is from the Mohawk nation, Turtle clan from the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory. Paula Laing has spent the last 25 years in the field of Education in both Six Nations and Brant County. As a teacher and consultant for the Six Nation District Schools she is familiar with the journey that students undertake when transitioning from their community to high school to a college or university. “Our students are proud of their culture and heritage no matter how much or how little they may know. My job at Sheridan is to assist students from all different nations and territories to see themselves as an important part of the present educational climate. I want to empower students to believe their voice, their ideas and their stories need to be heard.”
